Speed Mentoring with the LITE program

Twenty-six Kettering/GMI alumnae volunteered in a speed mentoring event with the 34 female participants of Kettering University’s LITE program (Lives Improve Through Engineering). Modeled after speed dating, LITE participants moved through the room in small groups for three minutes of sharing and advice from the alumnae.

LITE is one of Kettering University’s summer pre-college programs. Young women who are entering the 12th grade spend two weeks on campus in July learning about careers in engineering. They delve into how engineering can play a significant role in solving relevant social problems; how women can juggle work, personal lives, and family within the confines of an engineering career; and how mentors are able to positively affect and influence women in their careers.
